The WOODMARKS (Liscomb, Rorebeck, Jones) et al.

George Washington Jones
& Eliza Bliss Liscum (Liscomb)
The Woodmark clan (legally adopted name) represents those hardy souls who opened
this country from the East coast through Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota and the Dakotas
to California and back. Their ancestors include the Liscum, Liscomb, etc. (lots
of spelling variations) family, with rich musical talents, dark eyes, strong voices,
the inventive Rorebeck's (more plentiful spelling variations) and the Jones family.
They worked the Lead mines the driftless area around Platville Wisconsin, farmed
in Northern Iowa spreading out across the country from there. European (Swiss,
German, Austrian) & Scotch, English, Welch ancestry. The Jones family moved from
the lead mines in Wisconsin where they could not own the land to farm in Iowa
with the homestead act. The family split apart by tragedy when mother Eliza B.
Liscumb died in child birth. In grief her husband George built her coffin, purchased
a remarkable white marker in Whittimore where it stands alone. Dad and the older
boys continued west during gold rush days across South Dakota and Wyoming. The
girls raised in different families gradually lost touch moving to North Dakota,
Colorado, Washington state and Vancouver Canada.

Studies instructor Vancouver Canada.)
